(08:04) WATSONVILLE – Watsonville’s police chief has announced his plans to retire. Police Chief Manny Solano will be leaving the department at the end of December. During his time as police chief, the crime rate in Watsonville dropped to its lowest level in decades. Solano also played an integral role in the passing of Measure G, which added a half-cent sales tax to raise funds for public safety. The city plans to select a new police chief by the end of November. (S.G.)
