(09:32) CENTRAL COAST – Caltrans workers in San Benito and Monterey counties are participating in Coastal Cleanup Week, an annual event to remove litter from beaches, lakes and waterways. This week, a maintenance crew in North Salinas conducted clean-up efforts along Highway 156 near Tembladero Slough. A maintenance crew in Hollister also removed debris along the shoulder of US Highway 101 and at the San Benito River. Coastal Cleanup Week is part of the “Don’t Trash California” campaign. Last year, 66,000 volunteers removed 1.2 million pounds of trash and recyclables statewide. (S.G.)
