(06:29) NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Crews are fighting two major fires in Northern California.
One person has been killed, four firefighters injured and hundreds of homes destroyed in a fire that broke out in Lake County over the weekend. The Valley Fire sparked near the community of Cobb on Saturday and has since burned over 50,000 acres. As of Monday morning, the fire is 0% contained.
Meanwhile, a fire in Amador and Calavera counties has grown to 65,000 acres. The Butte Fire broke out east of Jackson last week and has since destroyed nearly 100 homes. Fire crews reached 25% containment on Sunday. Mandatory evacuation orders are being issued in both fires. (S.G.)
