(08:52) CHUALAR – A Chualar woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of child endangerment and neglect. Deputies were dispatched to Highway 101 just north of Chualar around 12:30 a.m. following a report of an unattended child. A 3-year-old was found walking along the shoulder of the highway, only wearing shorts and socks. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The child’s mother, 39-year-old Diane Aguilar, was located shortly after. Officers discovered she had sent her 10-year-old old son to look for the child on his bike while she drove around in a car. Aguilar left her 5-year-old son at home unattended during the search. She was apprehended and booked into Monterey County Jail. Her children were taken into custody and released to Child Protective Services. (S.G.)
