(10:06) MONTEREY COUNTY – The SPCA of Monterey County is urging owners to vaccinate their pets against canine parvovirus. Animal hospitals and shelters in King City, Greenfield, Salinas and Monterey have recently reported seeing a number of dogs and puppies infected with the disease. Canine parvovirus is highly contagious to unvaccinated dogs and can be deadly. Symptoms can include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. The SPCA is advising owners to not take puppies out in public until they are fully vaccinated. The vaccination is available at the SPCA’s clinic on Monterey-Salinas Highway. (S.G.)
