(10:52) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies will be out helping the community beat the heat Thursday. Temperatures are expected to hit above 90 degrees countywide. In response, the Sheriff’s Office has issued each dayshift patrol deputy a case of cold water to hand out to those in need. The public is being encouraged to flag down a passing deputy if they need to hydrate. The dayshift patrol and all Sheriff’s Office Service Centers will be passing out free water bottles until 4 p.m. (S.G.)
