Seaside City leaders voted last week to place a moratorium on the installation of Smart Meters in the city. The city council voted 5 to 0 to approve the urgency ordinance, which asks P.G. and E. to forgo installing the wireless meters until at least the end of the year. However P.G. and E. officials have so far ignored similar moratoriums in other localities, including Capitola, Watsonville, and Santa Cruz County. P.G. and E. plans to start installing Smart Meters in Seaside this month.
