SEASIDE OPPOSES JOINT FIRE AGENCY 06-25-10 11:50 a.v.

A vote was approved last night by Seaside fire officials, to oppose plans to form a joint fire department with neighboring Peninsula cites.   The Seaside Fire Association officially rejected plans  to form a new Joint Power Authority by not combining fire departments with the City of Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel.   Seaside Firefighters have presented an alternative plan to the Seaside City Council that reportedly guarantees a current level of fire service that will retain full control of the Seaside Fire Department and it’s decision making authority. The fire association claims that a joint fire department would not necessarily bring in additional firefighters.
