A 45 YEAR-OLD SEASIDE RESIDENT, WHO WAS IN THE NATIONAL GUARD, DIED LAST WEEKEND IN AFGHANISTAN. STAFF SERGEANT VINCENT W ASHLOCK, WHO SERVED 10 YEARS IN THE ARMY, BEFORE JOINING THE NATIONAL GUARD 4 YEARS AGO, DIED DECEMBER 4TH IN A NON-COMBAT RELATED INCIDENT. ASHLOCK WAS ASSIGNED TO THE 890TH ENGINEER BATTALION OF THE 168TH ENGINEER BRIGADE OUT OF LUCEDALE MISSISSIPPI. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE AND 5 CHILDREN.
