High winds are considered a prime factor in the increased numbers of seabirds that have been washing-up on Monterey Bay Area beaches recently. The birds seemingly being hit the hardest right now are the Northern Fulmar and the Common Murre. 8 Northern Fulmars were found yesterday alone. The birds were not only weakened, but hypothermic as well….and some were emaciated. Anyone who spots a seabird (that has washed-up on the shore) is encouraged to contact the S.P.C.A. Wildlife Center at (831) 264-5427.
