The Santa Cruz Police Department says it has arrested 21-year-old Marc Lawrence today (on Thursday) near the pool area of Santa Cruz High School.
Lawrence was described by school staff inappropriately filming female students during a swim meet. Coaches and the school Athletic Director immediately notified the Santa Cruz Police Department’s School Resource Officer after observing Mr. Lawrence and his actions. When the police arrived and detained Mr. Lawrence, It was determined he was filming female students on the pool deck, while he was inside a porta-potty.
Further investigation ofLawrence found he was filming younger girls in various public areas throughout the city of Santa Cruz. The Santa Cruz Police department believes there may be other victims and asks if they have ever witnessed or have been filmed by Mr. Lawrence to contact Detective Williams at 420-5839.
Police say that based on the age of the victims being filmed and Lawrence’s believed motivations, he is being charged with Child Annoying, and Disorderly conduct/loitering in a public restroom. They say further charges may surface as the investigation continues.
