A welfare fraud investigation led to the seizure of 100 pot plants and cash. The Sheriff’s department executed a search warrant on the 100 block of Station Ranch Road in connection with an investigation into a person collecting benefits from Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. The investigation was started after the individual claimed no income, but lives in a recently purchased 1.1 million dollar home. Officers seized in addition to the plants, 90 pounds of pot, a cannabis vape pen operation, and over 155 thousand dollars in cash. The case has been turned over to the district attorney’s office.
