A warning has been issued in Scotts Valley after 2 bats, that tested positive for rabies, were found. Health officials say the bats, which were picked up by Santa Cruz County Animal Services, are believed have come into contact with a domesticated cat on October 12th. Officials with Santa Cruz County Animal Services say that residents need to take all precautions and avoid any contact with bats, and if a domestic pet is found playing with an injured or wild animal, owners are asked to contact their veterinarian or Santa Cruz Animal Services at 831-454-7303.
