(19:35)SANTA CRUZ-A manhunt for a Scotts Valley bank robbery suspect gridlocked commuter roadways yesterday (Thursday). The incident began when the 10 a.m. armed robbery turned into a car chase with an exchange of gunfire on Highway 17. The Highway was closed at 11 a.m. while a manhunt was underway in the Redwood Estates area. Commuter traffic delays were several hours long on all alternate routes. Southbound 17 was re-opened after 6:30 p.m. while the north bound lanes could remain closed overnight while the manhunt continues.
