Santa Cruz county election officials say they have finished tallying all of the Mail-In Ballots cast by Santa Cruz county voters November 8th. The next step is tallying the approximately 7,500 Provisional Ballots. They hope to have their final tally complete by Friday.
There are still several close local races….
- As of Friday, Watonsville’s District 2 City Council race had Oscar Rios with 631 votes, while contender David Hermosillo had 622 votes. Watsonville’s District 6 race had incumbent Trina Coffman-Gomez with 957 votes and Doreen Martinez with 924.
- For one remaining Capitola City Council seat, incumbent Ed Bottorff had 1,490 votes, while write-in candidate Sam Storey had 1,422.
- Measure D, which requires more than 66.6 percent of the vote to pass, continues to hold slim approval, with 67.46 percent support.
Final certification of the November 8th election is expected to occur on December 6th.
