SCC advances mental health building 09/20/11 7:30p.m. TDH

Santa cruz county supervisors voted 5 to zero on Tuesday, to build a new mental health facility.  The effort to build a new, county-owned facility comes as dominican hospital is seeking to end a contract with the county, to provide mental health services.  Dominican officials want to use the space currently used by those services, to provide other care.  Dominican is helping fund the new 16-thousand square foot facility, which is planned to be built at soquel avenue and capitola road extension.  The project is expected to cost 12-million dollars, and will be partially funded by redevelopment funds.
