A SANTA CRUZ HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WON THE BEST PROJECT FROM THE UNITED STATES AWARD AT AN INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR. THE AWARD ALSO EARNED, 16 YEAR OLD HAILEY LOEHDE-WOOLARD WHO IS A JUNIOR AT PACIFIC COLLEGIATE SCHOOL, AN INVITATION TO ANOTHER SCIENCE FAIR TO BE HELD NEXT SUMMER IN THE NETHERLANDS. THE 16 YEAR OLD DEVELOPED A NEW EFFICIENT WAY TO PRODUCE ETHANOL. SHE IS NOW WORKING ON PUBLISHING THE RESULTS OF HER RESEARCH AS WELL AS PATENTING THE PROCESS.
