A FIRE ENGULFED A SANTA CRUZ STORAGE UNIT THIS MORNING (TUES). FIRE CREWS WERE DISPATCHED TO SANTA CRUZ SELF STORAGE ON THE 3-HUNDRED BLOCK OF BENITO AVENUE AT AROUND 3 A-M. UPON ARRIVING AT THE SCENE, CREWS FOUND FLAMES AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE SECOND STORY OF THE BUILDING. AFTER THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED, INVESTIGATORS DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A DISCARDED CIGARETTE. DAMAGE TO THE COMPLEX WAS ESTIMATED AT 75-THOUSAND DOLLARS.
