The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department launched a neighborhood website this week that helps deputies provide important information to area residents. Officials say the private social network called NextDoor.com, is like a virtual bulletin board where deputies will be able to post certain information like a “be-on-the-lookout”, or “a spike in crime” alert, such as burglaries and car break-ins. The website is expected to provide an efficient way of reaching residents, and increase community policing. The site is free and only lets you sign up for the community you live in.
