The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission voted unanimously 13-0 earlier today (THURSDAY) to amend its Measure D spending plan.
The amendment adds auxiliary lanes between two interchanges on Highway 1: Rio Del Mar Boulevard to State Park Drive in Aptos and from Freedom Boulevard in Watsonville to Rio Del Mar Boulevard in Aptos. Only three interchanges were scheduled to have auxiliary lanes previously.
Despite unanimous support from commissioners, the plan drew criticism from activists concerned about pollution, commute times, buses, and congestion not improving under the amendment passed today.
