Salinas fire fighters battled a brush fire on Saturday afternoon. The blaze broke out near the intersection of Boronda Road and Independence Boulevard. Three engine crews contained the fire to five acres and fully extinguished it in two hours. The cause of the fire is believed to originated in homeless encampment.
