Police reform was the subject of a forum yesterday in Santa Cruz.
The police chief and the mayor hosted the forum which addressed predictive policing and facial recognition technology. The Santa Cruz city council voted to ban those two policing methods unless the council specifically approves them.
Chief Mills says the department also got rid of the “choke hold” and changed the policy of firing a weapon from imminent threat to immediate threat. Also gone is the “no knock” search warrant policy.
