The Santa Cruz Police Department reported the city had no reported major acts of violence or crime on the 4th of July. During this 24 hour period, Officers responded to about 300 calls for service, made 10 arrests and issued 6 citations. Most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct. Estimated beach crowds were around 5 thousand which was far less than year’s past making policing the area easier.
