A new office is set to open on pacific avenue in santa cruzthis march, was announced at tuesday’s city council meeting. The district attorney’s office announced the new office which will also house probation, mental health and city officials as the implementation of an 8 month pilot program looks at the 1-hundred chronic offenders list. The santa cruz county superior court has also appointed a judge to handle cases, so that offenders with 3 or more infractions will be issued a bench warrant. They will then be evaluated by the new office for how best to resolve the chronic citation issue.
