Santa Cruz City Council will vote on Tuesday to decide if they will increase parking meter rates that are located near the beach.
The proposed rate increase is to $2.25 per hour, up from the current $1.80 per hour.
Increasing the parking meter rate will allow the city general fund to increase by nearly $300,000 annually.
If the proposal is passed, a rate increase will take effect May 1.
