A hotel proposed for the downtown area in Santa Cruz has been approved. The 111 room Hyatt Place Hotel, set to be built at Broadway, west of the Ocean Street intersection, is estimated to bring in up to $500,000 in new tax revenue, and create 30 new jobs. Certain conditions have also been endorsed before work on the building begins, such as setting aside up to $50,000 for traffic and pedestrian improvements, along with agreeing to work with neighbors to reduce noise and traffic issues.
