THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ HAS IMPLEMENTED MORE CHANGES TO THE COUNTY’S NEEDLE EXCHANGE PROGRAM. THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPROVED THE CHANGES YESTERDAY (TUES), INCLUDING REDUCING THE HOURS OF OPERATION AT THE EMELINE AVENUE EXCHANGE FROM FIVE DAYS A WEEK, TO TWO DAYS A WEEK. SUPERVISORS ALSO APPROVED RESTARTING A NEEDLE HOME DELIVERY PROGRAM AND CREATING KIOSKS AT PHARMACIES. THE CHANGES AIM TO ADDRESS THE EXCESSIVE LITTERING OF USED SYRINGES IN PUBLIC PARKS, BEACHES, AND NEIGHBORHOODS IN SANTA CRUZ.
