The Santa Cruz Harbor is experiencing extreme shoaling. The sandbar present across the harbor entrance is expected to worsen over the next week because of a failure with the dredge.. Please be advised that the entrance is impassable. Mariners should not attempt to transit the entrance for their safety and the safety of their vessel. On Sunday, January 17, a commercial fishing vessel ran hard aground on the sandbar and required salvage. Please do not attempt to transit the harbor entrance until depths can be restored.
