THE CREW OF THE SANTA CRUZ HARBOR’S DREDGING VESSEL ARRIVED TO WORK THURSDAY MORNING TO FIND SMOKE COMING OUT OF A GENERATOR COMPARTMENT. SHORTLY AFTER 8:30 A-M, A FIRE FIGHTING BOAT WAS ASSISTED BY HARBOR PATROL AS WELL AS 3 FIRE ENGINES ON LAND. THE SMALL FIRE, WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A HOSE COMING IN CONTACT WITH A GENERATOR WAS EXTINGUISHED QUICKLY. THE DAMAGE TO THE VESSEL IS DESCRIBED AS MINOR AND SHOULDN’T EFFECT DREDGING OPERATIONS.
