Fire crews in Santa Cruz were able to extinguish an early-morning fire on Sunday, that charred the roof of a carport. The flames were reported on top of the carport on the 15-hundred block of Broadway Avenue at 1 a.m. Crews evacuated the adjacent apartment building while the blaze was put out. No injuries were reported, and the building didn’t sustain any damage. Damage to the carport was estimated at about 4-thousand dollars.
