the 2011 farmer of the year has been named by the santa cruz county farm bureau. stanley iverson, president of suncrest nurseries, accepted the honor during the farm bureau’s annual dinner meeting at bargetto winery on thursday. iverson was recognized for his help with the ligh-brown-apple-moth problem, his support for second harvest food bank, and his continued support of other local organizations. iverson opened suncrest nurseries in 1989.
