The Santa Cruz City Council is expected Tuesday to consider less restrictive landlord rules than those contained in the apparently failed Measure M.
The council is likely to consider landlord payments to renters who refuse large rent increases and move as a result. There is not an anti-eviction provision being considered, but the new council majority has previously supported rent control measures. The current rent freeze and anti-eviction rules remain in effect until the Council certifies the election, probably on December 11th.
