The county of Santa Cruz is distributing 7 million dollars earmarked for homeless shelters. The funds are part of 10 million dollars awarded to the county’s Homeless Action Partnership. The funding should boost shelter capacities by 30 percent. This adds about 500 spaces along with safe parking areas. However the county’s goal is to transition the homeless into permanent housing.
