the santa cruz county sheriff’s department’s canine unit has been joined by its 1st female officer. deputy cassandra cassingham and her PARTNER, duke , a 3 year old german SHEPPARD, completed an 8 week law enforcement training course and have been approved for active duty. deputy cassinham and duke will now be available for suspect location and apprehension as well as narcotics detection.
