Santa Cruz county is experiencing a rise in domestic violence reports. Since the Covid19 Shelter in Place order became common place across the country domestic and sexual violence reports have risen. In Santa Cruz County incidents are up 40 percent. The situation is now more complex due to the shelter in place order which prevents authorities from ordering the alleged abusers to another location. People experiencing abuse are encouraged to contact services such as, the Survivors Healing Center, Monarch Services, and the Walnut Avenue Family & Women’s Center. Services vary but they all offer confidential crisis support .
