A man who was found dead in the recycling center north of Santa Cruz on Friday has been identified as a 54-year-old homeless man. Police are withholding the man’s name until his family can be notified, however the department said in a news release that officers had had contact with the man in the past. His body is thought to have been in a recycling bin, which was picked up in the Harvey West area. It was discovered at about 1:30 p.m., after being dumped at the sorting center on Dimeo Lane. The case is not being treated as a homicide.
