The Santa Cruz City Council has voted to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products in the city beginning in January of 2020. The ban includes all vaping and e-cigarette products and may result in the closure of stores that today specialize in such products.
The ban, approved Tuesday, is intended to reduce tobacco use by teenagers and will be effective only within the city of Santa Cruz.
