Santa Cruz police arrested a suspected shoplifter on Friday. Officers responding to reports of a chronic shoplifter at a Mission Street market attempted to confront 42 year old Pascal Cheong of Georgia in the parking lot. Cheong attempted to flee in her vehicle and had to be subdued. Cheong was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for assault on officers with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, trespassing and shoplifting.
