Beginning today Santa Cruz County 911 operators will now start screening callers about possible Ebola exposure. Dispatchers receiving 911 requests for medical attention will now be asking the caller travel history questions while first responders are en-route. The questions are to identify if the caller has come from Ebola hotspots or other at risk areas. The information is then relayed to the medical personnel arriving on scene to determine if Ebola safety protocols are needed. San Benito County is implementing a similar plan.
