due to the passing of a new bill, san benito county jail will be taking in nearly 100 new inmates from around the state. assembly bill-109 complies with a federal court order forcing california to reduce its prison population by 40-thousand inmates before 2013. the transfer is set to begin on october 1st, to allow the san benito county jail, which is already near maximum capacity, to prepare for the influx of inmates. in the first year of housing the new inmates, the state will send the county over 700-thousand dollars.
