A decision to move forward with water rationing for the city of Santa Cruz is hold at least for two weeks. City Council members decided last night to consider enacting an increase to an existing shortage alert during a public hearing set for February 25th. The city’s Water Commission voted February third to recommend stepping up to the third of five shortage levels with the goal of cutting overall consumption up to 25%. The plan prioritizes water for health and safety, then business and irrigation.
