A Santa Cruz man was arrested early yesterday morning for burglary, prowling, and stalking. Officials say residents were woken up by sounds of footsteps on their roof shortly before 2 a.m. One of the residents found his front door ajar. He then found a man hiding in a closet in a bedroom. The resident struck the suspect with a bat when he attempted to flee. The homeowner was able to identify the subject as 21-year-old Josue Jashua Cano Velez and provide a vehicle description. Velez was found and arrested at his home. He was booked into county jail.
