A Santa Cruz man faces 11 years behind bars after he was sentenced today for drug trafficking. 40-year old Rudy Martinez was indicted last October and pleaded guilty in August to trafficking in methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine. Officers found the drugs along with scales and packaging materials at his home when he was being investigated for his involvement in a Beach Flats street fight in July of 2012. Martinez admitted that he was acting as a “middleman” for others who were actively distributing drugs in and around Santa Cruz County.
