A Santa Cruz County Sports field is being closed because of safety concerns. City officials say they are closing Depot Field indefinitely after years of deterioration and now a lawsuit that’s been filed over field conditions. A construction company and architect are being sued for improperly designing the field after pools of water began collecting on the artificial turf and not draining shortly after the field was completed. Officials expect the field to remain closed until the lawsuit is resolved.
