The Santa Cruz City Council approved an amendment raising fees for high risk businesses earlier this week. On Tuesday the council also added 18 businesses to the list of high risk alcohol outlet ordinance. High risk establishments have on premise alcohol permits such as restaurants and bars that offer entertainment and stay open past midnight. Official say that the Police get close to 180 calls for service annually after 12 a.m. compared 11 calls for low risk.
