(This follows up on a segment broadcast Sunday on KSCO Pet Radio…)
The Santa Anita racetrack (in southern California) has turned down a state request to suspend racing for the remaining six days of its season. The California Horse Racing Board’s request came after a 28th horse died at the track on Saturday, and a 29th horse died Sunday…just hours after track officials denied the request from the horse racing board. There is a state law – SB469 – being considered in the legislature that would make it easier for the state to order such a shutdown. Gov. Newsom reportedly supports that bill.
