A 49-year-old former sand city resident has been convicted of 24-criminal counts, for crimes related to scamming area residents. Timothy Ralph carrillo was found guilty of agreeing to make home repairs for residents, (many of whom were elderly), and then stealing the money without doing any work. Tens of thousands of dollars were stolen, from 2006 to 2008. carrillo (who is not a licensed contractor) is facing up to 34-years in prison. That time could be served concurrently to the 25-years he has already been sentenced to in texas, for committing similar crimes. Carrillo is set to be sentenced for the California convictions in September.
