YESTERDAY (THURSDAY), THE FUTURE OF THE SAN VINCENTE REDWOODS AS A PRIVATELY OWNED PUBLIC LAND CONSERVANCY IS TO BECOME FINALIZED. A STATE AGENCY ANNOUNCED IT WILL BE USING 10 MILLION DOLLARS TO PERMANENTLY PLACE CONSERVATION AND SELECTIVE LOGGING EASEMENTS ON THE FORMER CEMEX 8,500 ACRE PROPERTY. THE MOVE MAY BE THE BEGINNING OF A NEW TREND TO PROTECT PUBLIC LANDS, BY FINANCING TROUGH SELECTIVE LOGGING AGREEMENTS, THEN ADMINISTERING THE PROPERTIES THROUGH AGENCIES LIKE THE SEMPER VIRENS.
