San Jose International Airport has been awarded a $4-million-dollar federal grant to study ways to beef up perimeter security to prevent intruders. Airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes the money will be added to considerable work that has already been done at the airport.
San Jose, like many airports, is challenged to prevent break-ins along long fence lines that are difficult for officers to monitor. Barnes said the $4 million grant will support new and advanced technology purchases.
