Road improvements in Monterey County are expected to begin next week as a dam project in the Carmel Valley moves forward. Preparation for the San Clemente Dam Removal Project was completed over the summer. During that time, crews created a channel that will become the new river. Before the water is released, the county has called for the reinforcement of roadways. During the paving improvements, one lane will be closed east of Esquiline Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the first phase and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the second phase.
